Because of continued growth we are looking for an experienced Construction Division Manager to join our team in Richmond, VA.

To be considered for the exceptional career opportunity you must have at least the following:

  • Two years of field contracting experience, project management, and on-site estimating/bidding experience
  • BS degree in business management, construction management, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Five years management experience in contracting with projects ranging from $10,000 to $1,000,000.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Job Summary

The Construction Division Manager has overall responsibility for implementing policies and procedures and taking actions that will result in the successful operation of the Construction Division.  The Construction Division Manager plays a critical role in the daily operations of the business and the profitability of the company. The right candidates will also feel comfortable, when the situation arises, taking on a more hands on approach whether it's estimating jobs, bidding, or handling other on-site needs.

The Construction Division Manager reports to the President, ACF Environmental.

Duties and Responsibilities

General and Financial Management

  • Monitor financial performance of the division relative to its annual profit plan and take action to meet or exceed planned results.
  • Direct the development and enforcement of policies and procedures to provide internal control over the business.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategy.
  • Develop and implement new business strategies and operational efficiencies.


  • Develop and implement sales and market strategy in order to meet or exceed annual sales goals
  • Build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Work with the Distribution management to coordinate efforts of the ACF sales team with Construction sales.
  • Maintain a commission program for Distribution sales personnel relative to projects sourced for the construction division.
  • Act as the primary salesperson; working with sales reps and/or attending key sales presentations.

Estimating and Project Management

  • Establish and oversee standards and procedures for estimating and project management.
  • Review and approve bids prior to submission
  • Oversee project status and review deviations from project budgets with the Project Manager and the Supervisor.

Contract Administration

  • Negotiate contracts that provide the target overhead coverage and profit targets.
  • Establish bidding policies and standards.
  • Review all project agreements with President to ensure they are consistent with company goals.

Human Resource Management

  • Enforce corporate personnel policies.
  • Develop and implement a staffing plan that provides sufficient crew staffing to meet the project and revenue plan.
  • Perform Goal setting and performance evaluations as required. 

Qualifications and Skills

  • BS degree in business management, construction management, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Five years senior management experience in contracting with projects ranging from $10,000 to $1,000,000.
  • Two years of project management and field contracting experience.
  • Technical knowledge of geosynthetics and paving applications a strong preference.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multitasking, and work under pressure.
  • Ability to create and maintain cooperative team building relationships.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with human issues with colleagues and customers.
  • Honesty, integrity and a strong desire to succeed.
